Although each version is essentially the same, several forms of regional lockout prevent the different versions from being compatible with one another. It was released in Brazil on September 2, 1. Playtronic. The SNES is Nintendo's second home console, following the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The console introduced advanced graphics and sound capabilities compared with other consoles at the time. The development of a variety of enhancement chips integrated in game cartridges helped to keep it competitive in the marketplace. The SNES was a global success, becoming the best- selling console of the 1. North America and Europe from Sega's Mega Drive/Genesis console. The SNES remained popular well into the 3. ROM images. History. The two platforms were later launched in North America in 1. Turbo. Grafx- 1. 6 and the Genesis respectively. Both systems were built on 1. NES. However, it took several years for Sega's system to become successful. The colors correspond to those of the ABXY buttons of the control pad in those regions. A different logo was used for the North American version (right), consisting of a striped background outlining four oval shapes. Designed by Masayuki Uemura, the designer of the original Famicom, the Super Famicom was released in Japan on Wednesday, November 2. It was an instant success; Nintendo's initial shipment of 3. Japanese government to ask video game manufacturers to schedule future console releases on weekends. It began shipping in limited quantities on August 2. The Playtronic Super NES in Brazil, although PAL, uses the North American design. In Japan, only two games were initially available: Super Mario World and F- Zero. Despite the Genesis's head start, much larger library of games, and lower price point. Donkey Kong Country is said to have helped establish the SNES's market prominence in the latter years of the 1. However, competition from Sega's console brought an end to this practice; in 1. Acclaim began releasing games for both platforms, with most of Nintendo's other licensees following suit over the next several years; Capcom (which licensed some games to Sega instead of producing them directly) and Square were the most notable holdouts. Each region performed separate evaluations. One game, Mortal Kombat, would challenge this policy. A surprise hit in arcades in 1. Mortal Kombat features splashes of blood and finishing moves that often depict one character dismembering the other. Because the Genesis version retained the gore while the SNES version did not. In November 1. 99. Rare released Donkey Kong Country, a platform game featuring 3. D models and textures pre- rendered on SGI workstations. With its detailed graphics, fluid animation and high- quality music, Donkey Kong Country rivaled the aesthetic quality of games that were being released on newer 3. CD- based consoles. A similarly redesigned Super Famicom Jr. In Japan, Nintendo continued production of the Super Famicom until September 2. In 2. 00. 5, Nintendo announced that SNES titles would be made available for download via the Wii and Wii U's Virtual Console service. These base platform features, plus the ability to dramatically extend them all through substantial chip upgrades inside of each cartridge, represent a leap over the 8- bit NES generation and some supposed significant advantages over 1. Genesis. North American cartridges have a rectangular bottom with inset grooves matching protruding tabs in the console, while other regions' cartridges are narrower with a smooth curve on the front and no grooves. The physical incompatibility can be overcome with use of various adapters, or through modification of the console. The Japanese and North American machines have the same region chip. This can be overcome through the use of adapters, typically by inserting the imported cartridge in one slot and a cartridge with the correct region chip in a second slot. Alternatively, disconnecting one pin of the console's lockout chip will prevent it from locking the console; hardware in later games can detect this situation, so it later became common to install a switch to reconnect the lockout chip as needed. Additionally, PAL's higher resolution results in letterboxing of the output image. To mostly correct this issue, a switch can be added to place the SNES PPU into a 6. Hz mode supported by most newer PAL televisions. Later games will detect this setting and refuse to run, requiring the switch to be thrown only after the check completes. The original North American version, designed by Nintendo of America industrial designer Lance Barr. The loading bay surface is curved, both to invite interaction and to prevent food or drinks from being placed on the console and spilling as had happened with the flat surfaced NES. The North American SNS- 1. Japanese Super Famicom Jr. The European and American versions of the SNES controllers have much longer cables compared to the Japanese Super Famicom controllers. All versions incorporate a top- loading slot for game cartridges, although the shape of the slot differs between regions to match the different shapes of the cartridges. The MULTI OUT connector (later used on the Nintendo 6. Game. Cube) can output composite video, S- Video and RGB signals, as well as RF with an external RF modulator. This, along with the particularly light color of the original plastic, causes affected consoles to quickly become yellow; if the sections of the casing came from different batches of plastic, a . A fairly normal mapping could easily address up to 9. Mbit of ROM data (4. Mbit at Fast. ROM speed) with 8 Mbit of battery- backed RAM. However, most available memory access controllers only support mappings of up to 3. Mbit. The largest games released (Tales of Phantasia and Star Ocean) contain 4. Mbit of ROM data. It also features an ergonomic design by Lance Barr, later used for the NES- 1. Barr. The North American version's buttons are colored to match the redesigned console; the X and Y buttons are lavender with concave faces, and the A and B buttons are purple with convex faces. Several later consoles derive elements of their controller design from the SNES, including the Play. Station, Dreamcast, Xbox, and Wii Classic Controller. Many of these devices were modeled after earlier add- ons for the NES: the Super Scope is a light gun functionally similar to the NES Zapper (though the Super Scope features wireless capabilities) and the Super Advantage is an arcade- style joystick with adjustable turbo settings akin to the NES Advantage. Nintendo also released the SNES Mouse in conjunction with its Mario Paint title. Hudson Soft, under license from Nintendo, released the Super Multitap, a multiplayer adapter for use with its popular series of Bomberman games. Some of the more unusual controllers include the Batter. UP baseball bat, the Life Fitness Entertainment System (an exercise bike controller with built- in monitoring software). The Super Game Boy touted several feature enhancements over the Game Boy, including palette substitution, custom screen borders, and (for specially enhanced games) access to the SNES console. In general, Nintendo proved to be somewhat more tolerant of unlicensed SNES peripherals than they had been with NES peripherals. Soon after the release of the SNES, companies began marketing backup devices such as the Super Wildcard, Super Pro Fighter Q, and Game Doctor. However, they could also be used to play copied ROM images that could be downloaded from BBSes and the Internet, or to create copies of rented video games, violating copyright laws in many jurisdictions. Japan saw the release of the Satellaview, a modem which attached to the Super Famicom's expansion port and connected to the St. GIGAsatellite radio station. Users of the Satellaview could download gaming news and specially designed games, which were frequently either remakes of or sequels to older Famicom titles, released in installments. Satellaview signals were broadcast from April 2. June 3. 0, 2. 00. Ultimately, deals with both Sony and Philips fell through, (although a prototype console was produced by Sony) with Philips gaining the right to release a series of titles based on Nintendo franchises for its CD- imultimedia player and Sony going on to develop its own console based on its initial dealings with Nintendo (the Play. Station). This is most often characterized by 1. The chip was primarily used to create 3. D game worlds made with polygons, texture mapping and light source shading. The chip could also be used to enhance 2. D games. The DSP- 1 version, including the later 1. A and 1. B bug fix revisions, is used most often; the DSP- 2, DSP- 3, and DSP- 4 are used in only one title each. The chip managed communication with the kiosks to download ROM images, and provided an initial menu to select which of the downloaded games would be played. Some titles were available both in cartridge and download form, while others were download only. The service was closed on February 8, 2. It has continued to thrive on the second- hand market and through console emulation. The SNES has taken much the same revival path as the NES (see History of the Nintendo Entertainment System). Emulation projects began with the initial release of VSMC in 1. Super Pasofami became the first working SNES emulator in 1. Bully: Scholarship Edition for Xbox 3. Reviews. Record producer - Wikipedia. A record producer or music producer oversees and manages the recording and production of a band or performer's music. A producer's roles may include gathering ideas for the project, selecting songs or session musicians, proposing changes to the song arrangements, coaching the artist and musicians in the studio, controlling the recording sessions, and supervising the entire process through audio mixing (recorded music) and, in some cases, to the audio mastering stage. Producers also often take on a wider entrepreneurial role, with responsibility for the budget, schedules, contracts, and negotiations. In the 2. 01. 0s, the recording industry has two kinds of producers with different roles: executive producer and music producer. The audio engineering . The music producer's job is to create, shape, and mold a piece of music. The scope of responsibility may be one or two songs or an artist's entire album . With the relatively easy access to technology in the 2. With 2. 01. 0- era technological advances, it is possible to achieve a professional quality production without a multimillion- dollar studio, using a laptop and a good- quality microphone. In most cases the music producer is also a competent arranger, composer, musician or songwriter who can bring fresh ideas to a project. As well as making any songwriting and arrangement adjustments, the producer often selects or gives suggestions to the mixing engineer, who takes the raw recorded tracks and edits and modifies them with hardware and software tools and creates a stereo or surround sound . The producer will also liaise with the recording engineer who concentrates on the technical aspects of recording, whereas the executive producer keeps an eye on the overall project's marketability. History. This development in music was mirrored in the TV industry by the concurrent development of videotape recording and the consequent emergence of independent TV production companies like Desilu. The new generation of independent producers began forming their own record production companies, and in many cases they also established their own recording labels, signing deals that enabled the recordings they produced to be manufactured and distributed by a major record company. This usually took the form of a lease deal, in which the production company leased the usage rights to the original recording to a major label, who would press, distribute and promote the recording as their own, in return for a percentage of any profit; the ownership of the master recordings typically reverted to the producer after the deal expired. Producers would now typically carry out most or all of the various production tasks themselves, including selecting and arranging songs, overseeing sessions (and sometimes also engineering the recordings) and even writing the material. A key example of this is Phil Spector, who defined the gap between early rock and roll and the Beatles. Although many of Spector's productions were credited to acts such as The Ronettes, The Crystals, and the Righteous Brothers, in reality they were created using a crack team of top- rank Los Angeles session players (now known as . The prime example of Spector's modus operandi is the record widely regarded as his masterpiece, . Spector's Wall of Sound production technique also persisted after that time with his select recordings of the Beatles, the Ramones, Leonard Cohen, George Harrison, Dion and Ike and Tina Turner. Some producers also became de facto recording artists, creating records themselves or with anonymous studio musicians and releasing them under a pseudonym. In the UK in the early 1. Joe Meek was the first British pop producer to make records with studio- created groups, and he had major hits with singles like . Similarly, Jeff Barry and Andy Kim recorded as the Archies. The same producer- as- artist phenomenon can be found with many modern- day pop- oriented street- and electronic- music artists. In later years this became a prominent and often successful sideline for major producers, as evidenced by the string of albums by the studio group The Alan Parsons Project (created by former EMI/Abbey Road staff engineer Alan Parsons) and the successful musical adaptation of H. G. Wells' War of the Worlds, devised and produced by former David Essex producer Jeff Wayne. The development of multitrack recording and new technology such as electric guitars, amplifiers, and better microphones led to a fundamental change in the way recordings were made. The goal of recording no longer was simply accurately capturing and documenting live performance. Instead producers could manipulate sounds to an unprecedented degree and producers like Spector and Martin were soon creating recordings that were, in practical terms, almost impossible to realise in live performance. Producers became creative figures in the studio and were no longer reserved to the role of functional engineer. Examples of such engineers includes George Martin, Joe Meek, Teo Macero, Phil Spector, Brian Wilson, and Biddu. These producers became known as creative producers who turned the studio into a creative space. Another notable related phenomenon in the 1. As pop acts like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys and The Kinks rapidly gained expertise in studio recording techniques, the leaders of many of these groups eventually took over as producers of their own work, although this was often not credited. For example, many recordings by acts such as The Rolling Stones, The Small Faces, Donovan, The Kinks and The Who are officially credited to their various producers at the time: Andrew Loog Oldham. Mickie Most or Shel Talmy; but a number of these performers have since asserted that many of their recordings in this period were, in practical terms, either self- produced (e. The Rolling Stones' Decca recordings) or were collaborations between the group and their recording engineer (e. The Small Faces' Immediate recordings, which were made with Olympic Studios engineer Glyn Johns). Alongside The Beatles and Martin, Wilson also pioneered many production innovations - by 1. Spector's techniques to a new level of sophistication, using multiple studios and multiple . In modern- day recordings, recording and mixing tasks are commonly centralized within computers using Digital Audio Workstations such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton, Cubase, and FL Studio, which all are often used with third party virtual studio technology plugins. Where the producer's role has changed, they have always been seen as the professional without well- defined skills as they have to be capable of doing every aspect. The producer needs to be that magic ingredient that takes the mix to the next level by communicating the passion from the band to the audio engineer and pushing the band to their full potential. At the pre- production stage, the producer may listen to the song and make suggestions about changing the arrangement or instrumentation (e. In some cases, pre- production may involve recording the songs so that the producer and the band can hear how the arrangement and performance sounds. This pre- production recording may lead the band to modify the song and its arrangement. The role of the producer varies significantly depending upon who the producer is. The actual definition of a producer is very vague which gives them the ability to define and re- define themselves in an ever- changing industry. Many will begin their role at the Pre- Production phase which includes songwriting and arranging the song. Their goal is always to take the song up a level by adding their unique sound to it. The songwriting process for the producer is usually much more a role of critiquing than actual writing but it. Other aspects of post production will be running through the song with the band and simply looking for what doesn't fit and making the call to cut the area from the song or not. At its core, pre- production is simply making sure that the song is as good as it can be before the artist sets foot in the studio so that they arrive prepared. Even though digital technologies have widely supplanted the use of tape in studios, the older term . Tracking audio is primarily the role of the Audio Engineer. This is when the producer. Producers work side by side with the artists while they play or sing their part and coach them on how to perform it in a way that will best convey the emotion of the song and how to get the best technical accuracy (e. In some cases the producer will even sing a backup vocal or play an instrument if that. Even within the tracking phase, the idea of constantly trying to make the song one step better is always at the forefront of their mind. Post- production. This will typically start with finalizing the arrangement via moving around audio files and cutting the instruments from the mix that are no longer necessary for the desired sound. After this the audio engineer will use effects like Compression or EQ to create the desired sound from each track within their DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). After this it is moved on to mastering, which is usually the end of the producer. A mastering engineer makes the final adjustments to a recording (compression, levels, etc.) so that the song meets the professional standards of songs for radio airplay or CD release.

Finally push the rubber bumpers out against the struts as shown. This completes the landing gear. Landing Gear Completenext is the main gear/drive hub. Main Gear/Hubthe manual depicts all the parts in this assembly, however it comes out of the box as you see it, fully assembled. Main drive hub assembly. Next is the swashplate. Swashplatethe manual depicts all the parts in this assembly, however it comes out of the box as you see it, fully assembled. Swashplate assemblyand now the rotor head. Rotor Headthe manual depicts all the parts in this assembly, however it comes out of the box as you see it, fully assembled. Rotor Head Assembly. Tail Boom. Now lets build the tail boom assembly. Here you can see the parts as they come out of the box. There is a LOT of preassembly here, basically the tail boom itself is done. Tail Boom parts as delivered. The complete tail drive system is pre- installed in the tail boom, the front drive gear as well as the rear transmission. Front Tail Rotor Drive. Install the rear T/R control bellcrank onto the mount on the t/r transmission as shown. Use thread lock and then lock into place with the lock nut. Install T/R bellcrank. Install the vertical fin as shown using thread lock. Install Vertical Fin. Here's where the horizontal fin mounts. Horizontal fin mount. Mount the fin using CA adhesive since the bolts are threading into plastic. Install horizontal fin. Slip the T/R control assembly over the t/r shaft and engage it into the t/r bellcrank. This can be done by moving both parts toward the transmission as you push the ball into the link hole on the bellcrank. If you haven't done so, engage the t/r control link onto the bellcrank as shown. T/R Pitch control installed. Install the included t/r blades as shown. Note the leading edge of the blades and their relation to the control arms. T/R Blades installed. ALWAYS balance the T/R. This assembly is turning very fast so an imbalance will result in vibration. In this case, they assembly balanced with no additional work. T/R blades balanced. Now the t/r can be installed on the t/r shaft. Note there are two sets of dimples in the shaft, two are closer to the outside end and the other two are closer in. For maximum tail authority use the outside holes to mount the t/r. Align the set screw holes on the T/R hub with those dimples. Align T/R Hub on shaft. Tighten the set screws into the t/r hub so that they engage the dimples on the t/r shaft. Make sure both sides properly align with the dimples. Tighten T/R Hub. Connecting the T/R arms to the control assembly is done with these bushings and bolts. T/R Control bolts. The two brass bushings push into the ends of the links on the T/R control assembly. They may be a tight fit, if so fit them as shown and seat them using a C clamp or other clamp type. T/R Control bushing location. Fully seat them into place as shown. They will protrude slightly from each side of the link. T/R Control Bushings installed. Tighten the bolts to connect the t/r pitch control arms to the t/r blade arms using thread lock. The T/R pitch mechanism will probably be a bit tight, it will loosen up when the model is flying. Tighten T/R control links. That completes the tail rotor assembly. T/R completed. To complete the tail boom, install the tail boom supports onto the horizontal fin support as shown. Don't fully tighten these or use adhesive on the screws just yet, that can be done during final assembly. Install T/R Supports. WIth that, the tail boom component is complete. Tail Boom completed. Engine. Here we can get the engine ready. The T1. 0 engine requires a little assembly and then the normal cooling system parts can be installed. These are all the parts that will be used in this step. Parts for engine assembly. Gas engines get really hot, so hot that the fuel will vaporize in the carburetor. So there is an isolator required that keeps some of the heat from the carb. Note the protruding ring faces downward. You'll need to hold this in position until the carb is installed. Carburetor isolator position. So now the carburetor...... I have shown. In this config the fuel adjustment is over the muffler meaning you have to be careful. It can also be installed 1. Depending on which way you install it, the throttle servo will be installed on the same side of the frame. Regardless of the orientation the carburetor installs over the isolator. There are two bolts that have lock washers. Fully tighten these. Install Carburetor. The T1. 0 uses an electronic ignition to fire the spark plug. There is a magnet embedded in the drive hub. This will cause the ignition to fire. EI trigger magneta pickup sensor reads the magnetic field from the magnet and fires the ignition system. Its position is pretty important to get the timing right. EI Trigger sensor. For a couple of steps its necessary to bind the crankshaft. You can open the back of the engine and jam the crank with something non- metallic or use one of the machined crank stops. An alternative is to use a simple piston stop. Its the same one that you would need for a glow engine. Glow engine piston stop. You can use this to find top dead center of the engine by turning the stop in while turning the crankshaft by hand until you find the position where the stop hits the piston and the crank can't be turned in either direction. This is only really necessary if you're going to do the complex sensor setting. Position piston stop to find TDCAND, the complex method of setting the sensor position requires that you have an RCEx. L ignition timing kit. It consists of a dial indicator and a small device that reads the EI sensor. When the magnet passes under the sensor an LED on the device lights as well as a siren sounds. RCEXL EI Testing Kit. Once you have TDC on the engine, you slip the gauge over the end of the crank and lightly tighten the stop nut while setting the zero position on the indicator exactly vertical as shown. Set TDC on guage. The correct setting for the EI is 3. When you turn the engine clockwise until the 3. EI alarm will go off and the LED will light. If not move the sensor around slightly until it does and then tighten it into position using thread lock. BTDCNow, there's a much simpler way to do this that requires no special parts. If you install the sensor so that its exactly centered between its two mount bolts, turns out thats 3. BTDC. Personally I'd suggest just doing this, its close enough. Use green thread lock on these bolts, if this gets loose the engine will probably stop. Easier way to set sensor. So the NX4 comes with a hub for glow engines. The T1. 0 includes a shorter fan hub. This is required because the Drive Hub on the T1. We need to use the short one included with the T1. Select clutch/fan hub. The NX4 cooling fan will be used, if you intend to use a govenor or telemetry, you'll need to install magnets in the little insets on the back of the fan. If so, first you need to find the poles on the magnets. The most reliable way to not have a problem is to use the actual governor device to tell you. Follow the setup instructions on your governor to determine how to do this. Find magnet polarity. Once you know which sides of the magnets trip the sensor, flip one over so you have one that will trip it and one that won't. Now mark both of them with a marker as they sit. This way as you install them, if you see the mark, you've got the correct side facing outward. Mark opposite poles on magnets. Insert the magnets into the fan recesses as shown. Make sure they seat fully in the fan. Clean u all the adhesive, it will be on both sides of the fan as there is a small hole in the bottom of the recess. Cooling Fan. The fan hub is inserted into the fan as shown and seated fully against the fan. Hub/Fan Position. There are 6 holes in the fan hub. Two of them are for mounting the clutch. Position the fan so that you can mount it with the other four holes. Two of the holes in the fan are cslightly larger. This just helps with shrinkage so the bolts will install easily. Use thread lock. Fan bolt positions. The fan hub/fan threads onto the crankshaft as shown. Here's another case where locking the crankshaft by your preferred method will help. Fan Hub threads onto crank. The hub needs to be tightened on the crank . You can do this with most anything that you can engage the hub with, I used an old fan tool that was common to most every older helicopter kit. Tighten hub on crank. |
